RTM Enclosure Insulation

SPS offers insulation with all standard RTM enclosures except for the Electrical Boxes. A poly urethane foam is encapsulated inside of an aluminum foil shell which protects the foam from deterioration. Bulkheads can be installed during manufacturing, which keeps the bulkhead are completely sealed. The bulkheads for entrance and exit points can also be cut into the foam in the field if the exact entrance and exit points are not known during the time of manufacture. If a bulkhead is cut into the box in the field, foil tape must be used in order to seal the area. If foil tape is not available a high grade silicone sealant should be used to cover any exposed foam. The following photo shows the foil insulation inside of a sales sample. Notice that one side of the foil insulation is FRP coated to provide chemical/puncture resistance.
